University of the Punjab

Established in Lahore in 1882, the University of the Punjab is the oldest and largest seat of higher learning in Pakistan. Founded during the British colonial era, it was the fourth university created in the Indian subcontinent and the first in a Muslim-majority region.

Today, the university spans multiple campuses, notably the historic Allama Iqbal (Old) Campus on Mall Road and the sprawling 1,800-acre Quaid-e-Azam (New) Campus along the Lahore Canal. Housing over 19 faculties, 130+ academic departments, and hundreds of affiliated colleges, it serves tens of thousands of students. Renowned for its rich academic legacy, low tuition fees, and vibrant research culture, Punjab University remains a premier institution for higher education in the country.
