The Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Established in 1925 by Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V as Jamia Abbasia, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) was chartered as a full public university in 1975. Located in Punjab, Pakistan, IUB has expanded into one of the region’s largest higher education institutions. Its historical origins center around the Abbasia and Khawaja Fareed campuses, while the sprawling 1,280-acre Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus serves as its primary academic and administrative hub. To extend quality education throughout Southern Punjab, IUB established regional sub-campuses in Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Liaquatpur, and Ahmedpur East. Today, the university plays a crucial role in Pakistan’s national research landscape, fostering significant advancements in agricultural innovation, desert studies, pharmaceutical sciences, environmental technologies, and information technology.
